There is NEVER a good reason for you to change who you are. BUT there is ALWAYS a good reason for you to become a better version of yourself.
We live in a very materialistic society. A place where money rules the world and the more stuff we have the better off we think we are. In this world of goal oriented external achievement, it is easy for us to believe that we have “arrived”.
So you achieved that career you dreamt of. That’s great. Good for you.
So you got the family that you always wanted. That’s great. Good for you.
But does that mean you’ve arrived? Does that mean that your work here done?
Of course NOT! That generally means that the work you where sent here by God to do has just begun.
Once we have achieved all the material success we need, there is deeper work to do. Once we have a home, food and clothing, then our attention and energy is freed up to becoming more of ourselves. To becoming a better version of ourselves.
But what usually happens?
Usually once we’ve gotten all of our needs met and gotten more stuff than we know what to do with, we go out and……….BUY MORE STUFF!
We go out and get that better version of the cell phone, instead of developing a better version of ourselves.
We go out and buy the newly remodeled house, instead of remodeling our consciousness to be more loving and generous.
Or we spend our energy on being “anti-bored” (some call this entertained). We plop ourselves down in front of the television to “distress” and “veg out” instead of channeling our energy into learning more about ourselves and our role in this world at this time.
Instead of becoming more of ourselves, our ego convinces us that our material possessions and external success is ALL there is to us. We buy into this lie so deeply that we define ourselves by the stuff we have and the things we can buy. We believe that there is no more to learn and grow. That we have arrived.
I know, I know. It takes so much time and energy to grow and learn about myself. And what about those “skeletons” in my closet that I just can’t face? And besides, I’m doing fine just as I am. I’m a good, Mom, Dad, Employee etc. I’m not a criminal. I tithe and pay my taxes. Isn’t that enough?
And that’s good. Good for you.
But I would argue that that is a “mediocre” life at best. A life where you just get by or go along to get along is NOT really Life at all.
It’s existing.
It’s what other animals do. They’re born, make a couple babies to ensure the continuation of the species, they survive physically for some years, and then they die.
And what?
What legacy did they leave behind, besides some bones that an archeologist may study one day.
YOU’RE BETTER THAN THAT!
You get to be human! Which means you get to go beyond the physical limitations that you and society place on you.
Will it take effort and be hard to look at your own faults and weaknesses? SURE! But it is so worth enduring a challenge for the sake of transformation.
There is so no such thing as “arriving.”
There is not such thing as having nothing else to learn. No where else to grow.
If all of your worldly goals have been met THIS IS YOUR WAKE UP CALL.
If you are reading this and have a roof over your head and a relatively stable means to keep it there, have food on the table everyday for you and your family and can afford extras like internet service to read this blog……THIS IS YOUR INVITATION!
The fact that you don’t have to struggle to survive is your invitation to go deeper.
To love yourself more deeply. To love your family more deeply. To love the world more deeply. To be an even bigger beneficial presence on this planet.
Stagnation is NOT an option.
We are all always growing up. We are all always becoming the higher version of ourselves.
It’s what we were made to do. That why we are here.
So the next time you’re sitting on the couch, flipping through channels because you’re bored, ask yourself these questions:
- Is there something more fulfilling that I could be doing with this time? Something that would bring me more joy and more purpose?
- Who am I and what am I here for? (I can bet you are NOT here for the purpose of vegging out in front of the TV)
- Who can I love right now? And how can I love them?
When you ask these questions the answers begin to seek you out. STEP INTO YOUR GREATNESS!
Who are you becoming? Are you willing to grow into the highest version of yourself?

I hope I am becoming who God knows I can be. I am willing to grow into the highest version of myself. When I let God be in charge, my path is always so much easier. I feel more fulfilled, more loving, more compassionate, more understanding and just MORE.
And that’s a great thing!
That is in deed a great thing!
