Happy Mother's DayBBecause we work so hard, we deserve our own special day of the year.

This Mother’s Day I was reminded to be true to myself and take care of my own needs! I had two choices:

  1. Spend Mother’s Day traveling two and a half hours up the highway on Saturday only to return those two and half hours the very next day. This would mean that I would sleep in a bed that wasn’t my own. Get up early to hit the road. And miss one of my favorite Sunday morning yoga classes. It would also mean that I would feel resentful of my husband for wanting me to go on this little trip (driving up the highway is NOT my idea of fun) OR
  2. Stay home while my husband and children hit the road. This would mean I got to get a little extra housework done without any distractions. Relax and play on my new tablet (my Mother’s Day gift). And get to go to my yoga class.

I chose #2. Even though I was worried that my husband would be upset with my decision to NOT go. Even though I would miss seeing my in-laws (who I love). I chose to do what was most satisfying to me on this special day.

Often times being a great mom (and woman) means you just have to say “no” to some things, so that you can say “yes” to your own sanity!

Take some time for your own self-care today. Enjoy those babies that you work so hard to raise. And by all means put your feet up and let someone else cater to you!

Much love to you Mamas!
