As moms we talk and think so much about the quality of the relationships we have with our children and even with our spouses. As women we intuitively know how important it is to our mental and emotional health to build a strong and supportive social network.
But what about the flip side to this having-good-relationships coin?
The other day I was reading a passage in the book Yoga & Ayurveda by David Frawley and in it he talked about how to build up and stoke the 7 Fires (agnis) to keep ourselves mentally, physically and spiritual healthy.
You know I’m all on board when he’s describing firing up the digestion and mind! But then he started talking about the 5th agni, called Anandajni. Or the Agni of Bliss!
And the first word he writes in this section on bliss is “Balance.” Which is something I often times struggle with. Do you?
He noted how important it is to have good relationships with others, but also how important it is to have SOLITUDE. Or to fast from relationships.
The relationship fasting is actually something that keeps our bliss fire stoked. And keeps us going.
So, sure, plan girl’s nights, family time and date nights with your partner. But also remember to pencil in a romantic date ALONE with the most beloved one of all. YOU!
